Fast RC Cars UK 2026 — 50 mph+ Brushless Picks

Four fast brushless RC cars: ZD Racing RX12, HOSHI N518, ZD Racing BX-8E and ZD Racing MT8

A fast RC car in 2026 means 50 mph (80 km/h) or more out of the box, and you no longer need to spend a fortune to get there. The cheapest car we list at that speed is the ZD Racing RX12 at about £120. The quickest for the money is the HOSHI N518, listed at 100 km/h and more, and the best all-round fast car is the ZD Racing Pirates3 BX-8E buggy.

The seven cars below are ordered by price. Every speed quoted is the one on our own product listing, usually measured on the largest battery the car supports, so read the hidden costs of RC cars before budgeting and how to charge LiPo batteries safely before plugging anything in. If the sizes are unfamiliar, start with RC car scales explained.

1. ZD Racing RX12: cheapest way to 50 mph

ZD Racing RX12

ZD Racing RX12 RTR 1/12 4WD Brushless Drift & Rally Car (3S Ready, up to 80 km/h)

1:12 scale, 2845 3600KV brushless motor, alloy chassis, gyro, listed up to 80 km/h on 3S

£119.99

View product

The RX12 is a 1:12 4WD rally and drift car with an alloy chassis, a 2845 3600KV brushless motor and an electronic gyro to help keep it pointing forwards. It is listed at up to 80 km/h, which is 50 mph from a car small enough to carry under one arm.

Best for: tarmac and smooth car parks, and anyone who wants real speed on a small budget. Watch out for: the battery. The top speed is quoted on 3S, so check which pack is in the box, and a small car at that speed needs a smooth surface.

2. ZD Racing MT-16: fastest small off-roader

ZD Racing MT-16

ZD Racing MT-16 1/16 Brushless 4WD Off-Road RC Car – 80km/h

1:16 scale, brushless, CNC-machined chassis, metal differentials, battery and radio included

£149.99

View product

A 1:16 buggy listed at 80 km/h sounds unlikely until you look at how it is built: a rigid CNC-machined chassis, full metal differentials and long-stroke shocks. It comes ready to run with battery and radio, and it copes with dirt and short grass as well as tarmac.

Best for: experienced drivers who want a pocket-sized car with proper pace on mixed surfaces. Watch out for: its size. Small wheels and high speed do not mix with rough ground, so pick your surface.

3. HOSHI N518: most speed for the money

HOSHI N518

HOSHI N518 RC Car 4WD 1/8 Scale 100km/h+ RC Brushless RC Monster truck

1:8 scale, 3670 2500KV motor, waterproof 80A ESC, 4000mAh LiPo, wheelie bar

£201.99

View product

On paper this is the fastest car on the page: a 1:8 truck with a 3670 2500KV motor and a waterproof 80A speed controller, listed at 100 km/h and more. It has hydraulic shocks, a reinforced aluminium chassis and a wheelie bar, and the 4000mAh LiPo is included.

Best for: drivers who want big-scale speed at a small-scale price. Watch out for: expecting premium parts. It is very quick for the money, and that is where the money has gone.

4. Maverick QuantumR Flux 4S: best on tarmac

Maverick QuantumR Flux 4S

Maverick Rc Quantumr Flux 4s 1/8 4wd Muscle Car – Blue

1:8 scale, 4WD, brushless, built for 4S LiPo power

£224.99

View product

The QuantumR is Maverick’s 1:8 street car: a low, wide 4WD chassis under a muscle-car body, built to run on 4S. We do not quote a top speed for it, but a 4S brushless car of this size and shape is the natural choice for speed runs on smooth ground.

Best for: large, empty tarmac areas and drivers who want a fast car that looks like one. Watch out for: the extras. Check the listing for what is included, because a 4S pack and a charger that can handle it add to the price.

5. ZD Racing Pirates3 BX-8E: best all-round fast car

ZD Racing Pirates3 BX-8E

ZD Pirates3 BX-8E Buggy 1/8 4WD Brushless RC Car

1:8 scale, 4068 brushless motor, CNC aluminium chassis, 5000mAh 3S battery and charger included

£289.99

View product

A 1:8 buggy is the most stable shape there is at speed: low, wide and long. The BX-8E is listed at 90 km/h with a 4068 brushless motor and a CNC-machined aluminium chassis, and it comes with a 5000mAh 3S battery and a charger.

Best for: the driver who wants to use the speed, not just reach it once. Watch out for: the space it needs. See the distances below before choosing where to run it.

6. ZD Racing MT8: fastest monster truck

ZD Racing MT8

ZD Racing 9116-V4 MT8 1/8 Scale Brushless Monster Truck 90km/h 4WD RTR

1:8 scale, 4076 1900KV motor, 120A waterproof ESC, 3S 5000mAh battery and charger included

£449.99

View product

The MT8 puts a 4076 1900KV motor and a 120A waterproof speed controller in a 1:8 monster truck with a 6061 alloy chassis, 16mm shocks and 4.5mm steel driveshafts. It is listed at 90 km/h and arrives with a 3S 5000mAh battery, charger and radio.

Best for: bashers who want top speed and big air from the same truck. Watch out for: rolling it. A tall truck at this speed will flip if you turn hard. Our best RC monster trucks guide covers the calmer options.

7. FTX DR8: most power

FTX DR8

FTX DR8 1/8 Desert Racer 6S Ready-To-Run – Red

1:8 scale, brushless, built for 6S LiPo power, scale desert racer body

£454.99

View product

FTX describes the DR8 as big, brutal and fast, and at 6S that is fair. It is a 1:8 desert racer with scale looks and the most electrical power of anything here. We do not list a top speed for it, so treat it as the pick for power and presence.

Best for: experienced drivers with open land who want the full large-scale brushless experience. Watch out for: the running costs. 6S means two large packs or one very large one, and a charger to match.

How much space does a 50 mph RC car need?

More than most people expect. The numbers below are simple arithmetic, and they are the reason a fast car belongs on a large, empty, private space and never on a road or in a busy park.

What 50 mph looks like
Distances covered by a car travelling at a steady 50 mph (80 km/h).
Every second
22 metres
About five car lengths of a real car, every second.
A football pitch
Under 5 seconds
A full-size pitch is roughly 100 metres long.
Half a second
11 metres
A typical reaction time, before you have touched the brake.

What makes an RC car fast

Brushless power. Every car on this page is brushless. Brushed motors run out of breath long before 50 mph.

Battery voltage. Speed rises with voltage, which is why the same car is quicker on 3S than 2S and why the biggest cars run 4S or 6S. Our LiPo vs NiMH guide explains the cell counts.

Gearing. A larger pinion gear raises top speed and raises motor temperature with it. Check temperatures after any gearing change.

Scale. Bigger cars are more stable at speed. A 1:8 buggy at 50 mph is composed; a 1:16 car at the same speed needs a very smooth surface.

Frequently asked questions

What is the fastest RC car you sell?
By listed top speed, the HOSHI N518 1:8 monster truck at 100 km/h and more (about 62 mph). The ZD Racing BX-8E buggy and MT8 monster truck are both listed at 90 km/h.
