The unmistakable outline of the 1966 Volkswagen Beetle 1300 joins the MINI-Z RWD line-up as a Readyset, mounted on Kyosho’s latest MR-04 chassis.
By 1966 the Beetle had grown into the 1300, gaining the 1,285cc flat-four that finally gave Wolfsburg’s people’s car enough performance to keep up with the traffic it had helped create. It is one of the most recognisable shapes ever built, and it translates beautifully to 1:27 scale.
Everything you need is in the box. Fit four AAA alkaline batteries to the car and four to the transmitter and you are ready to drive – no building, no soldering and no separate radio to buy. At 1:27 scale the MINI-Z Racer is small enough to enjoy indoors on a kitchen floor or an office carpet, which makes it a genuine year-round R/C car as well as a display piece.
At its core is the fourth-generation MR-04 rear-wheel-drive chassis, the design that debuted on the flagship EVO2. Against the long-serving MR-03 it brings a lower centre of gravity and a reworked steering layout, and the difference shows in sharper turn-in and more predictable mid-corner behaviour. Drive comes from an easy-going 130-class brushed motor and control from the dependable Syncro KT-531P pistol-grip transmitter, the same unit supplied with Kyosho’s high-end MR-04 models.
The body is fully painted with decals already applied and finished to display-model standard, and the chassis is compatible with the wider MINI-Z body range, so you can swap shells as your collection grows. A broad catalogue of MINI-Z option parts lets you take the car well beyond its standard setup when you are ready.
This Readyset is finished in Ruby Red.
