Rally cars are 4WD with long-travel suspension, rubber all-terrain tyres and higher ride height — built for tarmac, gravel and grass. Touring cars are low-slung, hard-mounted and run on smooth tarmac or carpet. A rally car can do what a touring car does, but not vice versa.
Can RC rally cars handle rough terrain?
Yes — within reason. They’ll tackle loose gravel, packed dirt, grass and wet tarmac happily. They’re not crawlers, so deep ruts, rocks and mud beyond 50mm depth will bog them down. Think “fast forest road”, not “trail”.
